Check valve experiment
Suggested exercises and observations
1. Select the 'Non-return check valve' from the drop down menu and experiment with load and pressure settings.
2. Select the 'Pilot to open logic valve' from the drop down menu.
3. Operate the pilot valve and experiment with the pressure and load settings to observe what happens and how the valve functions.
4. Select the 'Pilot to close logic valve' from the drop down menu.
5. Operate the pilot valve and experiment with the pressure and load settings to observe what happens and how the valve functions.
Experiment 1: Select the pilot to open valve from the drop down menu, increase the cylinder load to maximum.
Question 1: Why doesn't the poppet open?
Experiment 2: Increase the supply pressure.
Question 2: Will the poppet valve ever open?
Experiment 3: Activate the pilot valve to feed the back of the poppet with the supply pressure.
Question 3: At what point does the load pressure balance out the supply pressure? Click the oval yellow button to reset the cylinder.
Experiment 4: Change the cylinder diameter by click on the yellow arrow buttons.
Question 4: How does the cylinder diameter affect the load pressure acting on the poppet valve middle land area?
