Exercises and observations

1. Select the Directional valve equivalent, from the drop-down list.

♦ Click on the red button with the yellow triangle to switch the 4 logic valves. Note the A and B circles that show which pilot has pressure.

♦ Compare the function with a traditional 4 way, two and three position directional valve.

2. Select the Isolating slice, from the drop-down list.

♦ Operate the solenoid valve to see how the circuit changes.

♦ Consider why this system might be useful, for safety circuits for example.

3. Select the Freewheel crossover valve, from the drop-down list.

♦ Operate the directional valve supplying the cylinder and then operate the logic element.

♦ Consider what effect that switching the logic valve has on the circuit and why this might be beneficial for moving the wheel motors on a large machine for example.

4. Select the Re-generation slice, from the drop-down list.

♦ Operate the directional valve supplying the cylinder and then operate the logic element.

♦ Consider what effect that switching the logic valve has on the speed of the cylinder will extending.
