The Parker F11-12 bent axis pumps and motors give great performance and are almost unbreakable with their unique piston design.
If you can get hold of one then the Rexroth swash plate pumps are great value performance.
If you need low leakage then try the Hawe poppet valves.
Sun hydraulics floating cartridge design always seems sensible to me. And with counterbalance valves being the most difficult for any supplier to get right, Sun and Oil Control seem to lead the field.
